Annual meeting of the Energy System Analysis 2025 research network - We were there!

11 Minds, 5 Topics, 1 Mission – Berlin Recap from the Annual Energy System Analysis Meeting
ICE-2

On May 6 and 7, this year’s annual meeting of the Energy System Analysis Research Network took place in Berlin — an inspiring exchange between researchers from various disciplines, including engineering and the social sciences, as well as representatives from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and Project Management Jülich (PtJ).

Once again, it became clear just how interdisciplinary the energy transition must be in both thought and practice.

We at Jülich Systems Analysis (ICE-2) were there with an eleven-member team, contributing four workshops and a themed discussion table — covering topics from circular economy and hydrogen resilience to metadata in modeling and the role of citizen scientists in energy research.

A particular highlight was our interactive World Café workshop on citizen participation, which sparked lively discussions and fresh perspectives.

In addition to engaging keynotes and poster pitches, there was even time to soak up a bit of sunshine in Berlin.

Most importantly, we’re returning home with new ideas, fresh impulses, and valuable new connections.
