Economics of Sustainable Transformation
About
The Economics of Sustainability Transformation team analyzes the market dynamics of transformative processes and develops advanced early-stage monitoring systems to identify interactions in the context of sustainable development. This includes the use of innovative methodological approaches, by which we seek to uncover and better understand conflicting objectives and provide valuable insights into the adoption and diffusion of new technologies that can then be used as a basis for the development and evaluation of policy interventions. We examine the implications for societal and individual welfare and the factors that influence the supply and demand of resources. In this context, we explore both regional transformation processes in Germany as well as changes in resource systems on a global scale, for example with respect to international trade relations. In order to identify and evaluate possible transformation pathways at the systemic level, interactions between resource systems in particular are considered and the key prerequisites for long-term strategies are developed.
Research Topics
The identification and analysis of drivers and obstacles to the adoption and diffusion of technologies enables the development and evaluation of options for action. The focus is on the effects on social and individual welfare as well as the factors influencing the supply and demand of resources. In this context, both regional transformation processes in Germany and changes in the international resource systems, for instance international trade relations, are examined. To identify and evaluate possible transformation paths on a systemic level, interactions between resource systems in particular are considered and the prerequisites for long-term strategies are developed.
