Sustainable Bioeconomy

About

Our Sustainable Bioeconomy team focuses on the critical issues of biomass utilization and the circular use of carbon in the context of the sustainability transformation. The careful management of natural resources is key to sustainable development and building a resilient economy.

Research Topics

To achieve this, we employ a cross-sectoral optimization model to assess the sustainability of biomass technologies. Our team also analyzes market-related barriers and drivers affecting the implementation of a bioeconomy. Understanding the political framework is essential in this regard, as we systematically examine and quantify policy measures for integration into modeling approaches. By exploring these dynamics beyond the energy system, we identify transformative actions and pathways for a sustainable bioeconomy. In this way, the dynamics of implementing a bioeconomy beyond the energy system can be determined and the options for transformative action identified.
