CAMS2_40 European Air Quality Service
Regional air quality products

The CAMS (Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service) regional service provides air quality forecasts and analysis on a European scale within an operational service. ICE-3’s chemistry transport model EURAD-IM is one of 11 models contributing to the multi-model ensemble. Using this ensemble approach allows to derive products that are more robust and are overall of better quality than the individual model systems. The main products delivered are daily analyses of the previous day and four-day forecasts of the most important air pollutants. After some weeks another interims reanalysis is performed and with a delay of two years, an annual reanalysis is performed including fully validated observation data.
The EURAD-IM forecasts and recent analyses are available via air-quality.fz-juelich.de.
Project period:
CAMS2_40 started in 2021, will end in 2025 but will most likely continue at least until 2028. The service had been developed during many previous projects (e.g. gems, MACC I-III, CAMS50) since the 2000s decade.
