Dr. Attilio V. Vargiu appointed Researcher at University of Cagliari
January 2, 2014 - Dr. Attilio V. Vargiu, former Ph.D student in the group was appointed as Researcher at the University of Cagliari in Italy.
Dr. Attilio V. Vargiu's main current work focuses on the mechanisms of bacterial resistance to antibiotics and antimicrobials, funded by a recent project by the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) consortium.
He applies several computational methods including docking, homology modeling, bioinformatics and molecular dynamics simulations in order to unveil the molecular determinants behind the multi-drug recognition abilities and the inhibition of efflux pumps of the Resistance Nodulation Division (RND) superfamily in Gram-negative bacteria.
