Interview with RISE Professional Scholar Gaurav Chaudhary

Gaurav Chaudhary, doctoral student of physics in the group of the well-known condensed-matter physicist Prof. Dr. Allan H. MacDonald at the University of Texas, in Austin, USA, has spent a three-month RISE (Research Internship in Science and Engineering) Professional internship at the institute Quantum Theory of Materials (PGI-1/IAS-1). He was supervised by Prof. Dr. Samir Lounis who leads the Helmholtz Young Investigators Group “Functional Nanoscale Structure Probe and Simulation Laboratory” (Funsilab). Chaudhary reports on his stay in an interview conducted by Corporate Development (UE) and first published in September 2016:

The RISE Professional programme of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers summer research internships in Germany for Master’s and Ph.D. students from the US and Canada at companies and non­-university research institutions with strong relations to industry. Interns receive a scholarship from the DAAD and an additional stipend from their host company/institution to help cover living expenses.
