Capes-Humboldt Research Fellowship

The Capes-Humboldt Research Fellowship for postdocs and experienced researchers offered by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) and Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) enables scientists with above-average qualifications from Brazil to carry out research stays in Germany. The programme is open to applicants from all fields.

Programme Highlights:

• Postdoctoral researchers:
  - Funding period: 6–24 months (can be split into up to three stays within three years)
  - Stipend: €2,700 per month, plus additional benefits

• Experienced researchers:
  - Funding period: 6–18 months (can be split into up to three stays within three years)
  - Stipend: €3,200 per month, plus additional benefits

Eligibility Criteria (Excerpt):

• Doctorate completed:
  - Postdoctoral researchers: within the last 4 years
  - Experienced researchers: within the last 12 years

• Brazilian citizenship or permanent residence in Brazil
• German citizens are also eligible to apply if they have been working and living permanently in Brazil for at least 5 years

Selection round Call 24:

• Application Deadline: 30 May 2025
• Selection Results Announced: 25 November 2025
• Fellowship Start Period: March 2026 – November 2026
