• Visitors must complete a visitor form and present their national ID card or passport. They are then issued a visitor ID card.
• The person being visited must be on-site at Forschungszentrum Jülich and will be informed of the visit by telephone.
• Access to Forschungszentrum Jülich for visitors is generally possible Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 21:00. Visits after 21:00, and/or on days when Forschungszentrum Jülich is officially closed must be approved by the site security officer.
• Visitors may only enter Forschungszentrum Jülich if they have a legitimate interest. However, family members of Jülich employees may enter Forschungszentrum Jülich as visitors even if they have no official business.
• Visitors must be at least 16 years of age. Children of an employee or of an employee’s family member who are under the age of 16 may enter Forschungszentrum Jülich if they are accompanied by one of their parents who is not simultaneously working (or an adult authorized to do so in writing). They must be supervised at all times by this person.

Children between the ages of 6 months and 12 years may also enter Forschungszentrum Jülich accompanied by a parent who is working if unforeseen childcare difficulties make it necessary to use a purpose-equipped room or kit for parents and children. In such cases, the child must be registered and will be issued with a visitor ID card. Children who are ill will be refused access to campus. This also applies to less serious infections, which would prevent the child from going to kindergarten.

Employees with children under the age of 2 can be issued with an infant ID card in certain situations, for example, to allow mothers to breastfeed their children or due to particular childminding arrangements. The appropriate form (“Antrag auf Erstellung eines Kleinkindausweises”) must be submitted to the Equal Opportunities Bureau at least one month before access is required. A period of validity can be specified on the application form. This may not extend past the child’s 2nd birthday. An infant ID card will then be issued for this period to the parents or guardians specified on the form, allowing them to access the campus together with the child. The parent or guardian who is not working is responsible for supervising the child while on campus. The infant ID card is non-transferable.
