Intranet off Campus
The BfC is aware of the problem that certain information is only accessible via the intranet. Therefore, all important information provided by the BfC is also available on the internet.
However, if you still need to use the intranet or the network of Forschungszentrum Jülich in general, there are various ways to access it - even if you are not on campus.

Once set up, a Virtual Private Network (VPN) establishes a secure connection to the network of Forschungszentrum Jülich with a small click. The intranet and all other services (e.g. access to network folders) that can only be accessed via this network will then also work perfectly from home.
Application, set-up & contact
In order to be able to use the VPN, an application to the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) must be submitted.
A valid official Jülich email address is required for this purpose.
Request or extend email address in the ITS Self-Service (also available outside the FZJ network)
All information about setting up a VPN is sent with the email containing the personal access information.

Should you have any problems, contact JSC-KS at email@example.com. For general questions (forgotten password, etc.), contact JSC Dispatch at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Guacamole - without VPN
Guacamole is a web-based remote desktop service. After it has been set up by ITS, the remote desktop (Windows/Linux) can be accessed through the Internet via a browser. The intranet and all other services (e.g. access to network folders) that can only be accessed via the FZJ network will then also work perfectly from home – without VPN!
Application, set-up, contact
To use Guacamole, a request must be sent by email to email@example.com.
The email must specify which operating system is to be used on the remote desktop (Windows/Linux) and should also list all required applications (e.g. Firefox, MS Office, etc.) and access options (network folders, etc.).
Should you have any questions, contact the ITS Service Desk at firstname.lastname@example.org.
