Workshop: Improve your multi-threaded application through a memory-related performance analysis

Start
4th December 2012 08:30 AM
End
4th December 2012 03:30 PM
Location
GRS-Building at Forschungszentrum Jülich, building 16.15, Auditorium

Speakers:
Mats Nilsson, Rogue Wave Sweden, VP of Engineering, Performance Optimization Products
Royd Lüdtke, Rogue Wave Software, Germany, Application Engineer

Inefficient loop nesting, alignment problems, inefficient prefetching as well as multi-threading related issues like false sharing are known reasons for preventing applications from achieving maximum throughput and scalability.

Rogue Wave’s ThreadSpotter tool automatically analyzes your application, lists your cache- related performance problems, discovers opportunities for optimization and gives you valuable insights and statistics needed to quickly assess and fix the problems.

The workshop will cover the basic principles of optimizing application’s cache utilization, the way ThreadSpotter can help to detect such problems and how it can be used to efficiently optimize various aspect of program performance. During the workshop, participants will be able to analyze sample problems or work on their own applications, with experts in the room to help understanding how ThreadSpotter works and how to interpret the results.

The workshop is targeted at developers and development support personnel who want to learn how to use a modern optimization tool to optimize code and make the most efficient use of the underlying hardware.

Important: Participants are asked to bring their own Intel based laptop which should be equipped with a DVD drive.

Please register by E-mail at vogt@roguewave.com no later than November 20, 2012. If you have any technical questions, feel free to call Mr. Royd Luedtke at +49-6103-5934-23.

The seminar is free of charge. This includes the training material from Rogue Wave as well as lunch and coffee breaks courtesy to Forschungszentrum Jülich. The workshop is open to participants outside of Forschungszentrum Jülich, but they must register with full name, company / university affiliation and address to accelerate the access to the Jülich facility at the entry gate.
