The presentation covers all properties of the different things part of IoT and their impact on security. Several properties will be explored; each with a description (and use case) and the security impact. An example could be the lifetime of the device (typically more than 5 years up to 20 years – but then how can we be sure that crypto strength will still be adequate?) or whether the device is battery powered (then a denial of service vulnerability is the attacker constantly probes it). The issues are different than normal network or host security but there are also unique properties helping the security.

The threat model: from the classical denial of service to integrity threat.

Operational aspects (provisioning of credentials for example) are also important and will be discussed.
