Speaker: Prof. Dr. Gordon Pipa, Institute of Cognitive Science, University of Osnabrueck
Cognitive computing is a new field that merges artificial intelligence, machine learning and neuro-inspired information processing. Cognitive computing supports human users and experts by fast and interactive information exchange, based on human-like communication, including language, gestures and video streams. In that sense, a cognitive computing system imitates a human super assistant that has real time access to big data. In this talk, a scientific medley will be presented, composed of a few example systems, explaining the underlying machine learning tools and the implementation that highlight synergistic fusion inside cognitive computing systems. Examples include flu-prediction that is a cognitive computing platform which harvests data from twitter in order to speed up prediction of flu outbreaks in the US, and informs the user with natural language-based interaction, and applications and extensions of neuro-inspired computing, based on recurrent neuronal networks for learning real time control.
