The arrival of the Booster module of the Tier-0 JUWELS system marks an important milestone in the development of the supercomputing facility at JSC. Not only does it level up JSC’s engagement in GPU-based computing, it also brings JUWELS modular design to full fruition and showcases all relevant technologies for the realization of a European Exascale system based on the modular supercomputing architecture in the coming years. In this talk we discuss the system design of the JUWELS Booster, the result of a multi-year co-design effort, as a balanced system for scalable GPU-computing and describe the state of the installation and future steps.
