Organo Rice

Organo Rice

The OrganoRice project " Organic rice production in the Mekong Delta: improving product safety, environmental sustainability, and livelihoods through better land and water management on multiple scales " will start on 1.12.2022. The aim of the project is to accompany the conversion from conventional rice cultivation to organic cultivation. In addition to pesticide monitoring, optimization of irrigation, organic pest control, silicon fertilization, and analysis of rice quality, socioeconomic aspects as well as the entire value chain will also be considered - a key component is also traceability as well as the involvement and training of all relevant stakeholders. In IBG-3, Lutz Weihermüller (coordination and PI), Carsten Montzka (PI), Andreas Lücke, Björn Thiele and Bei Wu (PI) are involved in OrganoRice. External partners are the University of Bonn (soil science), UN University Bonn, and the SMEs KIAG and LUPO. On the Vietnamese side, Can Tho University, the Department for Plant Protection, and the companies LotusRice and LocTroi are involved.
