Project NANObeST
Nanoprobe-based rapid analysis of drinking water in crisis situations - Magnetic detection
There are always situations in which drinking water contaminations with pathogens cannot be excluded, for instance after floods or earthquakes. A safe supply of high quality drinking water is of great importance worldwide. In the previous AquaNANO project, the potential of magnetic immunodetection for the detection of pathogens in water was recognized and basically demonstrated in a joint exercise with the THW. The aim of the joint project funded by the BMBF "Nanoprobe-based rapid analysis of drinking water in crisis situations (NANObeST)" is the research, testing and establishment of a mobile quick analysis system for drinking water. Aid organizations such as "Technisches Hilfswerk" (THW) are to be enabled to detect and quantify microbial contamination from raw water sources within a very short time.
