Informal talk on structure maps

Structure is the most fundamental attribute of condensed matter systems especially crystalline materials. It governs electronic states via symmetry and coordination in an ingenious way. Since there is the huge sum of structure types in nature, classification of crystal structures according to their similarity is highly desired for understanding the associated properties. A procedure to obtain the similarity of crystal structure and to map each related structure in a low-dimensional space is proposed, and structure classification and related analysis are demonstrated.
