Education and Training
The ATML Visualization&iHPC team is committed to advancing knowledge and skills in scientific visualization and related topics through a range of courses and lectures. These educational offerings are designed to cater to researchers, students, and professionals who wish to deepen their understanding of visualization techniques and their application in high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
Courses
We organize and contribute to hands-on training sessions that cover a variety of visualization tools and methodologies, including:
- Introduction to ParaView: A beginner-friendly course that introduces the fundamentals of using ParaView for scientific data visualization.
- Introduction to VTK: A detailed exploration of the Visualization Toolkit (VTK), focusing on its capabilities for building custom visualization applications and pipelines.
- Unreal Engine for Visualization: A workshop demonstrating how Unreal Engine can be leveraged for creating high-quality, immersive 3D visualizations.
- Interactive Supercomputing with Jupyter: A course showcasing how Jupyter and JupyterLab can be used to interact with HPC resources for dynamic, reproducible, and interactive data analysis and visualization.
- Introduction to HPC at JSC: We contribute to this JSC introductory course designed to familiarize participants with the fundamentals of high-performance computing, including the resources and tools available at JSC.
Academic Contributions
In addition to courses, we actively participate in academic education. Within the framework of the Master’s program in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, organized by the University of Applied Sciences FH Aachen, we give a lecture in Scientific Visualization ("Wissenschaftliche Visualisierung"). This lecture provides a comprehensive overview of visualization techniques, algorithms, and tools.
