EBRAINS Software Distribution on HPC

Several neuroscientific tools were developed under the EBRAINS infrastructure. Building and deploying EBRAINS tools to make them available for the community is a challenging task, mainly due to the vast number of tools and the increasing complexity of resolving their dependency conflicts.

The EBRAINS Software Distribution (ESD) uses the package manager Spack, which is specifically designed to simplify the installation and management of scientific software. Spack is highly customizable and flexible, allowing developers to create their own packages and specify their dependencies and custom build configurations.

EBRAINS software releases are currently planned for each quarter of the year and is deployed at multiple HPC sites in Europe including JSC. Simulation and Data lab neuroscience is responsible for the deployment of EBRAINS Software releases on our production systems JURECA and JUSUF. For more information on the availability of modules on the HPC systems, please visit the following EBRAINS Wiki page.
