General news

September 14 2023 -- The Forschungszentrum Juelich Vorstand has just approved the new CASA Simulation and Data Laboratory Quantum Materials (SDLQM). The CASA SDLQM builds over an established collaboration between the SDLQM at JSC and the team of prof. Matteo Rizzi at PGI-8 over the development of HPC kernels for numerical computations based on Tensor Networks methods.

September 12 2023 -- The Simulation and Data Lab Quantum Materials at JSC is part of a newly formed consortium for the enhancement of collaborations between Europe and Japan around biomedical, material science and environmental applications and has been recently awarded with funding by the EuroHPC JU. The funded project, called HANAMI, brings together research teams representing excellence in HPC both in Europe and Japan contributing with key expertise in pre-exa and exascale systems, and the research supporting organizations & industrial stakeholders engaged in the development of HPC technologies for extreme-scale architectures. The project starts in January 2024 and lasts 3 years.

August 17 2023 -- Together with its partners, the Rudger Boskovic Institute (RBI), the Riken Center for Computational Science (R-CSS), and the Fukui University, the Simulation and Data Lab Quantum Materials has been awarded 3,28 Million node hours on the Fugaku supercomputer with the project titled "Extreme scale eigensolvers for dense and sparse eigenproblems". The computational time project starts in October 2023 and lasts 1 year.
