Seminar of the PGI-8 / ICS-8:

Title:

Development of superconducting Qubit and circuit quantum electrodynamics system

Speaker:

Dr. Yonuk Chong

Affiliation: Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science

Date: 01 September 2014 Time: 11:00

Venue: building 2.4w, seminar room 309b

The superconducting Qubit (=quantum bit) is now one of the most promising candidates for solid-state quantum information processing. A Josephson junction embedded in a machined high-Q (quality factor) superconducting aluminum resonator constitutes the unit of quantum information processing, a 3D transmon qubit in circuit Quantum Electrodynamics (QED) structure. The qubit operation is performed in a cryogen-free dilution refrigerator with the base temperature below 8 mK. I will present basic qubit operations and characterizations including Rabi oscillations and Ramsey fringes, and then several further results on ac Stark shifts and multi-photon processes. Basic spectroscopy results on the qubit dressed states will be also briefly discussed
