It pursues reserach activities as well as the development and operation of neutron scattering facilities.

The Jülich Centre for Neutron Science (JCNS) was founded in 2006 by the Institut for Neutron Scattering and the Institute for Scattering Methods (now: JCNS-2) to bundle the construction and operation activities at instruments at the research reactor FRM II in Munich and at the research reactor of the ILL, Grenoble (France).

Our organizational structure consists of several key areas:

ESS-Instrumentation

(Wischnewski, Pasini, Feygenson, Jaksch, Randriamalala, Violini, Claudio-Weber)

Soft Matter Structure, Dynamics and Function

Polymer Structure and Dynamics (Pykhout-Hintzen, Monkenbusch, Zamponi, Appavou, Richter)

Protein Structure and Dynamics (Biehl, Stadler, Schrader; Apanasenko, Pusterla)

Ion conduction (Holderer, Ohl)

Soft Matter Structure, Interaction and Assembly

Soft colloids and gels (Dulle, Stellbrink)

Microemulsions (Frielinghaus, Holderer)

Vesicles and Membranes

Nanoparticles and Nanocomposites (Kruteva, Ehlert)

Methods

Neutron Scattering

Polymer Chemistry (Allgaier, Willner)
