JCNS-1 demonstrates great expertise in the following areas:
neutron methods, with the operation of neutron small-angle scattering (SANS), neutron reflectometry (NR), neutron back scattering (BS), neutron spin echo (NSE), and neutron protein crystallography instruments at the JCNS Garching outstation,
complementary methods, including advanced X-ray (SAXS, XRD) and light scattering (SLS, DLS, SALS), electron (TEM, SEM) and light microscopy (CLSM, STED) as well as spectroscopic, mechanical/rheological and thermal characterization methods,
sample environments and multi-detection methods, where scattering experiments can be performed under shear, tensile force, hydrostatic pressure, magnetic field, electric field, temperature, humidity, microfluidic flow, membrane permeation or chemical reaction.
