Quantum NanoLab
In the collaborative project Q-NL, the world's first millikelvin scanning tunneling mircoscope based on cooling via adiabatic demagnesiation has been developed. This instrument is designed specifically for the emerging research field of quantum nanoscience and its applications in quantum technology.
This approach allows the complete elimination of mechanical pumps and circulating cryogenic liquids, thus ensuring outstanding mechanical stability. In this way, the project creates the conditions for investigating the most sensitive nanostructures. The unbundling of cryostat and experiment allows a unique modularity and thus the use of an entire family of devices for different experimental environments in the same cryostat. Following the project, the present instrument is to be further developed into a market-ready product and made available to a wide range of users as a modular experimental platform.
