Actionable FAIR Data: FAIR Digital Object

Abstract:
Reproducibility in science and Findable, Accessible, Reusable and Interoperable (FAIR) data are not something new anymore. But reproducibility and FAIR are abstract concepts and far from something practical. The estimate says we produce 2.5 quintillion bytes of data daily (that’s 2.5, followed by a staggering 18 zeros!). Any solution for FAIR data needs to be machine-actionable to address this challenge with the amount of data we are dealing with. FAIR Digital Object (FDO), started in 2019 by a joint effort of RDA, CODATA,  GOFAIR and WDS , is one of the possible answers to data challenges in our era. In the talk, you will hear about the FDO, the FDO forum, which is the community that coordinates the project and the 1st international FDO conference in Leiden (NL). In addition, we will glimpse what ESDE will present at the FDO conference in late October.
