The division conducts research on methods and operates services for data management, data analytics, and the federation of resources such as data storages and HPC-systems. The investigation and development of concepts and tools for deep learning, the exploration of data for the earth system, and a direct, individual user support feed back into development and operations, thus foster the functionality and usability of all services, software, and infrastructures.

The division is the core development partner of the open source software UNICORE (Uniform interface to computing resources).

Earth System Data Exploration

The research group Earth System Data Exploration (ESDE) develops innovative methods and tools for the integration and analysis of complex, heterogeneous, and big datasets related to air pollution, weather and climate.

SDL AI and ML for Remote Sensing

The Simulation and Data Lab (SDL) Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) for Remote Sensing (RS) leads to increase the visibility on interdisciplinary research between applications from RS and advanced computing technologies and parallel programming.

SDL Electrons and Neutrons

The Simulation and Data Laboratory Electrons & Neutrons (SDLen) forms a bridge between experiment and simulation with a special focus on data management and data analytics using high-performance computing and methods from the field of artificial intelligence.

AI and ML for Healthcare

The research group AI and ML for Healthcare aims to develop machine learning-based solutions for clinical support applications.

SDL Applied Machine Learning

The JSC Lab Applied Machine Learning applies recent progress in the field of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to topics relevant in science and industry and tailors new approaches to the specific requirements.

ATML Data Management and Analytics

The group Data Services and Infrastructure develops and operates generic data services for publication and sharing, as well as community specific data services. We also operate UNICORE and Cloud services integrated in various federated infrastructures.

ATML Federation Technologies & Services

The ATML Federation Technologies & Services develops and maintains services and software components for a seamless and secure federation of HPC and data resources, as well as tools for scientific workflows.
