OA Barometer 2017
Data on the transformation from subscription systems to open access
Why is the Central Library publishing an Open Access Barometer?
According to Forschungszentrum Jülich’s Open Access Strategy, the Central Library (ZB) has the task of supporting the transformation from subscription journals to open access and to control expenditures for subscription journals in such a manner that sufficient funds are available for gold open access publication fees (article processing charges, APCs).
Internet – Open Access Strategy of Forschungszentrum Jülich
ZB documents its course of action through the Open Access Barometer. The total expenditure, number of Jülich publications, cost per publication, and distribution of expense types are documented for the 12 most important publishing houses (according to expenses and number of publications).
Comments on the cost structure and the transformation status of the individual publishers are additionally exclusively available on the intranet. If you are a scientist at Forschungszentrum Jülich, you may find this information useful for your publication strategy.
