Title: Algal/ Cyanobacterial Biotechnology: Unfurling A Few Possibilities

Speaker: Prof. Dr. Nirupama Mallick

Abstract

Microalgae/ cyanobacteria represent one of the most primitive living organisms on earth, with around 3,00,000 species, a group much surpassing that of plants. They are emerging as alternative renewable biomass resource with many wonderful properties. This talk will cover an overview of our endeavour to explore this untapped resource for some high value compounds, viz. C-PC, SCC, EPS, MAAs, SCY, PHB, etc. along with biofuels, such as bio-oil, biodiesel and bioethanol under a bio-refinery approach.
