Abstract:

The activities of the large research unit Agroecology are devoted to the conception of new cropping systems.

These innovative cropping systems would incorporate a larger proportion of legumes, in order to benefit from their multiple ecosystemic services. As such, the GEAPSI group of the research unit Agroecology works specifically on both the cultivated species pea (Pisum sativum) and the model legume, Medicago truncatula. The presentation will make a short description of the research thematic of GEAPSI. Thereafter, we will explain how our experimental approach characterizes the genetic and environmental determinisms of the various yield components. As it implies non-destructive phenotypical measurements, the talk will focus on this aspect. Devoted to this, the facilities of the High Throughput Plant Phenotyping Platform (PPHD) available in INRA Dijon will be presented. Phenotyping in this infrastructure is based on image analysis of i) a large variety of plant species besides legume plants, ii) and specifically designed high throughput rhizotrons and iii) seeds or microorganisms, plantlets. Methods for phenotyping bellow ground organs will be shortly presented, as discussions, questions should arise form their availability.
