Larissa Kever receives „Best Short-talk Award” at the VAAM annual meeting

Larissa Kever, PhD student of the research group "Bacterial Networks and Interactions" receives the award for the best short talk in the session "Novel microbial viral defense systems" at the VAAM annual meeting in Düsseldorf. In her talk, she reported on her recent work on the function of actinobacterial secondary metabolites in bacteriophage defense. Teamed up with her colleague Aël Hardy, they could expand the knowledge of aminoglycoside functions suggesting that aminoglycosides are not only used by their producers as toxic molecules against their bacterial competitors, but could also provide protection against the threat of phage predation at the community level.
