Delegation from Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability visits IBG-1
Five scientists from the Center for Biosustainability (CfB) at DTU Lyngby (Denmark) visited our institute on August 24, 2012. CfB is an international research center at the Technical University of Denmark funded over ten years by Novo Nordisk Foundation with a grant of 94 Mio. EUR. Besides Jochen Förster, CfB Chief Technology Officer, the delegation included Irina Borodina (Project Leader), Markus Herrgard (Project Leader), Scott Harrison (Senior Researcher), and Ana Rute Neves (Senior Researcher).
The Danish center aims at the transformation of current chemical production to a sustainable biobased industry. It conducts research on metabolic engineering and synthetic biology to facilitate the emergence of the next generation of microbial production strains through development and application of new cutting edge technologies.
Obviously, CfB and IBG-1 (as a part of the BioEconomy Science center) have many things in common and the scientists from Lyngby and Jülich discussed about common interests and possible collaborations. A return visit in Denmark is already scheduled for next year.
