SPHERE Stakeholder Workshop – 6–7 November 2025 in Berlin

On 6–7 November 2025, 33 participants convened at the two-day multi-stakeholder workshop of the Helmholtz SynCom project SPHERE at the Michelberger Hotel in Berlin. The workshop brought together representatives from policy, industry, civil society, and academia to critically discuss key developments in the plastics sector.

Day one focused on challenges such as recycling economics, micro- and nanoplastics, and end-of-life technologies. Day two was dedicated to future visions for sustainable plastics governance, including reflections on a potential global plastics treaty. Participants particularly praised the methodological diversity, rich exchange, and interdisciplinary cooperation.

The outcomes of the workshop will be compiled in a policy brief and made available to decision-makers in the German Bundestag.
