Methodology and Lab Equipment
Students in our laboratory can expect to gain experience in several interesting and modern techniques and methods, including:
- Molecular microbiology: Cloning techniques, site-directed mutagenesis, Gibson assembly
- Phage biology: Isolation, sequencing, assembly and annotation, infection studies
- Single-cell analysis: time-lapse fluorescence microscopy (Live Cell Imaging), flow cytometry and cell sorting (FACS)
- OMICS techniques: in particular genomics, transcriptomics (microarrays & RNA-Seq), ChIP-Seq, ChAP-Seq (Fig. 5), and proteomics
- Next-generation sequencing: genome re-sequencing and RNA-Seq (Illumina MiSeq, Nanopore)
- Bioinformatics & data science: analysis and statistical verification of scientific datasets using Python, R and in-house developed pipelines
