We are part of the Cluster of Excellence CEPLAS III - Cluster of Excellence on Plant Sciences

The aim of CEPLAS III is to lay the foundations for sustainable agriculture and stable ecosystems in times of climate change. In the third funding phase, the aim is to decipher how plant characteristics are controlled by environmental influences. IBG-4 will contribute its expertise in machine learning, genomes and artificial intelligence to CEPLAS.

The accurate prediction of enzyme function is crucial for the development of bio-based, sustainable processes and the precise interpretation of genomic data. An interdisciplinary research team from Forschungszentrum Jülich, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, and Helmholtz AI at Helmholtz Munich has now developed a new AI model called TopEC, which can derive chemical reactions from the structure of enzymes and thus predict their function.
