LipoBiocat
In the chemical and biotech industry, there is a steadily growing demand for biocatalysts that catalyze numerous reactions with high activity, substrate specificity as well as enantioselectivity. However, enzymes were evolved in nature to function in living cells, i.e. under mild conditions, which is why most enzymes cannot be used at all or only to a limited extent under industrial conditions. The LipoBiocat project aims to find solutions to biocatalytic challenges encountered in synthesis and hydrolysis in the production of fine chemicals and polymers by industrial partners. We provide innovative computational tools and know-how for the identification of such robust enzymes.
