Our Research approach

In various projects, abiotic stress is applied in a controlled manner in climate chambers or by changing plant nutrition or irrigation. The aim is to specifically alter the content of plant metabolites by manipulating gene expression or inducing epigenetic changes, or to trigger further mechanisms such as "priming", which can influence the reactions of plants to further subsequent stresses.

Another focus of the working group is the identification and investigation of unused/underutilized horticultural and agricultural residues and resources for the option of a sustainable use through extraction of plant metablites of industrial relevance.
