New Committee for Ethics in Research

Jülich, 8 February 2021 – Prof. Dieter Sturma has been appointed chair of Forschungszentrum Jülich’s newly founded committee for ethics in research (KEF). Where scientific freedom and responsible research come into conflict, the KEF will aim to provide assistance by advising on and evaluating the ethical, safety, and security-relevant aspects of research projects. Sturma has been the head of Jülich’s Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine – Ethics in the Neurosciences (INM-8) since 2009. Prof. Bert Heinrichs, who also works at INM-8, was elected deputy chair of the committee.
