Support for Early Career Scientists

Early career scientists make an important contribution to scientific progress through their commitment and innovation. One of our key ambitions here at Forschungszentrum Jülich is to provide tailored support and conditions for you as graduates, doctoral researchers, postdocs and Young Investigator Group leaders to enable you to achieve excellence.

The promotion of young talents in science is key to the Forschungszentrum Jülich. We complement a centre-wide support for early career researchers with programmes of excellence and counseling on funding opportunities. Our measures and funding programmes are oriented towards the guiding principles of diversity and inclusion, innovation and networking as well as excellence and therefore contribute to internationalizing Forschungszentrum Jülich and promotion of early career scientists.

With the YESP we promote you as an outstanding, aspiring early career researcher in qualifying for a leading position in academia through counselling and networking, increasing your visibility.

Jülich Excellence Prize

Since 2009, the Jülich Excellence Award has honoured outstanding young scientists for exceptional achievements during their doctorate and early postdoc phase.

Collaborative doctoral projects

With doctoral projects, interconnecting supervisors from two institutes or institute divisions with a joined doctoral candidate, we envision to bridge scientific topics and POF programmes, while creating links between domains and methods in interdisciplinary doctoral projects.

HiDA Researcher Grants

If your research has a strong link to the (applied) data and information sciences apply for a HiDA Researcher Grant and visit FZJ for a short-term research stay funded by the Helmholtz Information & Data Science Academy (HiDA).

You are interested in engaging with Research Software Engineers around the world and presenting your own work?
