Get to know us

The Jülich Research Centre wants to inspire women to pursue careers in science and introduce them to a wide range of professional opportunities. Authentic insights from female colleagues from a wide variety of fields help to achieve this goal.

Career events for women

Get to know us from an all-female perspective and see for yourself: Every year, we organise the Women in Science Campus Day (WISCD) - a face-to-face format that connects STEM women with inspiring role models from the world of science as well as experts from the fields of recruitment and gender equality. The online version is the Digital Women in Science Day (DWISD).

The video shows impressions of the WISCD 2023.

Upcoming dates are published on our event website. If you are interested in an event and would like to be kept up to date, please register here (Link follows).

Forschungszentrum Jülich is open to all interested parties, even beyond careers events: groups of 10 or more can take a tour of the campus and its facilities. Please contact the Visitor Service team to book a tour.

History of diversity and inclusion at FZJ

We don't just want to get more women interested in science and research. It is also important to us that they find structures at our centre in which diversity and equality are a matter of course - and in which they can develop their full potential. Today, over 3,000 female employees at the research centre are already looking for answers to the big questions of the future every day. Together, we want to continue to promote equality in the workforce.

The following milestones highlight the progress we have made so far.

Pictured are the milestones in circles that Forschungszentrum Jülich has achieved to promote gender equality. Starting with the founding of Forschungszentrum Jülich in 1956 to 2022, when the Board of Directors approved the implementation of the first diversity and inclusion strategy.

For further information, visit the website on “Equal Opportunities, Diversity, and Inclusion” or take a look at our D&I Action Plan (PDF).

Achieving gender equity

The promotion of women in science and in leadership positions is therefore an important strategic goal that we aim to achieve using tailored measures in five specific fields of action:

Five columns show what Forschungszentrum Jülich does to promote or hinder the following five topics. These include: Reconciliation of work and family care, gender balance in management positions, recruitment and career development, gender dimension in research and innovation, and sexual violence, discrimination, and harassment.

Further information on the specific measures (which have already been implemented) can be found in our Gender Equality Plan (PDF compact or PDF detailed document) and on the webpages of the Equal Opportunities Bureau.

Goals: self-imposed quotas

The future lies in the diversity of our employees. This is why we aim to continuously change and develop as an organization – and not just in the field of research. We have therefore set ourselves ambitious goals to achieve our vision of a research centre that stands for equality and progress in many different ways.
