Biosensors for Rapid Cancer Tests

Jülich, 9 March 2016 – A German-Australian team of researchers have developed a new method which is hoped to lead to rapid cancer tests using biosensors. In laboratory experiments, the bioelectrochemical sensor method is faster and more sensitive than conventional tests. The scientists from Forschungszentrum Jülich and the University of South Australia now want to show the reliability of the test by means of studies on humans. Researchers from Jülich’s Peter Grünberg Institute provided the technical know-how. They developed and constructed the extremely sensitive silicon nanowire transistors. The team of researchers present their development in the latest edition of the journal ACS Nano.
