Groundbreaking Results on Water Availability in Germany
24.10.2024
In the WADKlim project, researchers from Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ) and Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) have researched current and future developments in natural water supply and groundwater availability in Germany on behalf of the German Environment Agency (UBA). They were able to identify risk areas in which the water supply from the groundwater is or could become critical during dry periods, making adaptation measures necessary. The results form a basis for political decision-makers and agricultural stakeholders to help distribute water resources fairly in the future and prevent conflicts over water use in Germany.
