SDG 17 aims to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development. This not only includes strengthening and providing access to science, technology, innovation, financial resources, and knowledge sharing, but also respecting each country’s policy space and leadership.
Overview, targets and indicators of SDG 17
Forschungszentrum Jülich is helping to realize SDG 17 by maintaining and expanding national and international relations on a strategic level as well as on employee level.
International collaborations
Science and research are international. Maintaining and enhancing national and international relationships and partnerships is therefore an integral part of Forschungszentrum Jülich’s strategy. In its internationalization strategy Internationalization@Jülich, Forschungszentrum Jülich has specified objectives for internationalization and it has also derived measures for further expanding international partnerships and increasing their international visibility.
“Every year, around 1200 visiting scientists from more than 79 countries work and conduct research at Jülich’s institutes. This exchange across national borders promotes scientific achievements. Science at Jülich should represent the international experience and the coexistence of cultures. Intercultural dialogue and knowledge management are the cornerstones of success,” says Dr. Melanie dos Santos Mendes, contact for the internationalization strategy and head of the division National and International Relations (NIB).
