The job advertisement contains information about the language skills required for the respective position in the requirements profile. We base our requirements on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

What is the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)?

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) provides a standardized way to describe and compare language proficiency across different languages.

It defines six levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2 that outline what learners can understand and communicate in speaking, writing, listening, and reading.

Why do we apply the CEFR?

The CEFR provides a common framework for understanding the language skills needed for each role. Language requirements are determined individually, according to the profile of the position and expressed as the corresponding CEFR level.

What is my CEFR level?

The table for self-assessment can help you estimate your CEFR level. The official descriptions of each CEFR level and the official translations are also helpful for this purpose.

Where can I obtain a CEFR language certificate?

Here is an overview of the most common language certificates and tests for the CEFR (alphabetical order):

English:

  • Cambridge Certificate
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
  • LCCI (London Chamber of Commerce and Industry) Test
  • TELC (The European Language Certificates)
  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
