GLORIA Safely Launched
Kiruna/Jülich, 16 January 2012 – GLORIA, the new infrared camera for atmospheric research, was recently put into operation during research flights from Kiruna, Sweden.
At an altitude of 20 kilometres on board the Russian research aircraft “Geophysica”, the researchers used GLORIA to observe climate-relevant gases and atmospheric movements with unprecedented accuracy.
These measurements will contribute to significantly improved climate models.
