AVR Fuel Elements: New Option Considered

Jülich, 6 July 2012. Forschungszentrum Jülich and its partners, the Federal Republic of Germany and the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, are currently discussing the option of transporting the fuel spheres from the decommissioned AVR reactor back to the USA with the Department of Energy (DOE), as this is the country where the nuclear fuel originated.
