Excellent Postdocs Wanted

Applications being accepted for Helmholtz Young Investigators Group Leaders

Jülich, 18 January 2017 – As in previous years, the Helmholtz Association (HGF) would like to enable excellent young scientists to establish their own research group at a Helmholtz centre and thus gain qualifications for a university career or a leading position in science. To this end, HFG provides funding of up to € 300,000 per year each for up to 15 young investigators groups at Helmholtz centres for a period of six years.

Prerequisites

Postdocs who obtained their doctoral degree two to six years ago may apply for funding if their research has been proven to be excellent. Periods of parental leave are not counted. Applicants who want to establish their own Helmholtz Young Investigators Group should have spent at least six months conducting research abroad. Scientists from abroad are also welcome to apply.

Deadline for applications for Jülich: 24 February 2017

Applications are forwarded by the Helmholtz centres in question: each centre can recommend up to six candidates to Helmholtz. In order to guarantee sufficient time for the internal selection procedure, postdocs who wish to apply for funding at Jülich should contact their potential future institute heads by 24 February 2017. Their support for the application is a prerequisite for acceptance into the selection procedure.
