Helmholtz International Fellow Award Goes to France

Jülich, 20 July 2017 – Dr. Jean-Michel Hartmann will receive a Helmholtz International Fellow Award this year. Forschungszentrum Jülich had nominated the physicist from the Grenoble institute CEA-Leti for the prize: for more than ten years, the scientist has been working in close cooperation with Jülich’s Peter Grünberg Institute – Semiconductor Nanoelectronics, investigating silicon-based nanoelectronics and optoelectronics with Dr. Dan Buca. Together, the two have published more than 60 scientific publications.

During the first selection round of 2017, the Helmholtz Association has awarded a total of five Helmholtz International Fellow Awards. The laureates from all over the world have particularly excelled in research areas that are important to the largest German science organization. The aim of the prize, which has been awarded since 2012, is to intensify collaboration: in addition to prize money amounting to € 20,000, the scientists receive invitations to a research stay at one or several Helmholtz centres.
