Focus on Particulate Matter

Jülich, 16 October 2017 – The air quality in conurbations and its deterioration due to road traffic have been publicly discussed in Germany for some time – not just since the diesel emissions scandal. Stuttgart is viewed as Germany’s particulate-matter capital, and the permissible values for nitrogen dioxide are regularly exceeded at the Neckartor intersection. Scientists from Jülich’s Institute of Energy and Climate Research recently spent two weeks on Stuttgart’s roads with their mobile measuring laboratory, MobiLab.
