Germany is aiming to achieve greenhouse gas neutrality by 2050. Doing so requires a transformation of the energy system – a process in which onshore wind energy plays a vital part. Yet the expansion of wind energy fell to a historically low level last year. Jülich researchers warn that climate targets may be at risk. In an interview, we speak to Dr. Martin Robinius from Jülich’s subinstitute for Techno-Economic Systems Analysis about the situation.
