The Search for Robust Enzymes
Jülich, 17 July 2020 – The LipoBiocat project has been officially launched. Researchers from Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, RWTH Aachen University, Universität Hamburg, and Forschungszentrum Jülich met for the first time during a video conference in June to exchange expertise and ideas with representatives of the companies involved in the project. The project is focused on research into biocatalysts for the production of fine chemicals and polymers. LipoBiocat aims to develop robust and selective lipolytic biocatalysts for industrial applications and has an overall budget of € 3.2 million for a period of three years. The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is funding the project to the tune of about € 2.9 million.
