Under One Roof: Research for a Sustainable Energy Supply

Jülich/Erlangen, 14 July 2021 – The new research building of the Helmholtz Institute Erlangen-Nürnberg for Renewable Energy (HI ERN) has now been officially inaugurated on the south campus of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). The institute, a branch office of Forschungszentrum Jülich, conducts fundamental research and develops materials and technologies for a net-zero sustainable energy supply at acceptable costs. FAU and Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB) are cooperation partners in the research building. The project was funded by the Free State of Bavaria to the tune of € 35.5 million.
